Western Colorado Slope Challenge 2006 Recap

There were 27 pilots, and everyone had a good time.

The wind gods were with us for the event, and a lot of flight time was logged.

As for the combat, there were 136 kills in all. Karl (Predator) taking home the 1st place master of kills honors with 25 kills. Cody following up with 19. Here's the kill list:

What's more impressive to me than the total number of kills, is there had to be 4 or 5 times,
if not more, hits that didn't end in kills, most of them followed with awesome recoveries. Not to mention there were quite a few kills that came out of massive pileups and it was unclear who should get the points, and nobody did. No doubt there was a massive combined total of skill on that hill.

For Team Combat, at the end, the GJ team (Greg and Donnie) averaged out to 10 kills per person per day, and one of the Front Range teams (Karl, Ian, Jeff, Cody and Andrew) averaged out to 9 kills per person per day. This put them way at the top, and there was a 15 minute fly-off between the two teams, head to head for the title of Team Champions. It started off with both Greg and Donnie going down in the first few minutes. Donnie ended up with a broken control horn which didn't get fixed in time. So Greg got back in the air and battled it out for the remaining 11 minutes by himself. He managed to get 2 kills on the other team just before the time was out and put them into sudden death. But the 5 to 1 odds weren't in his favor at the end and they got
the kill to take the win.

Karl also won the 'lead brick' award (which was a bucket full of lead, as we didn't have time to melt it down this year) for writing his name down the most (being killed the most).
